]]>GT Racing à l’assaut de 3 séries en 2012http://www.gt-racing.ca/nouvelle-news/gt-racing-a-lassaut-de-3-series-en-2012.htmlGT RACING2012-01-10T23:01:42ZAprès avoir remporté le championnat Canadian Touring Car en 2011 avec Etienne Borgeat, le 2e pour l’équipe dans cette série, GT Racing s’apprête à prendre d’assaut 3 séries en 2012.

GT Racing effectuera ses débuts officiels dans le Super Production Challenge avec au moins une voiture. Cette Pontiac Solstice GXP sera piloté par la recrue Maxime Lachance et pourrait être copiloté par le grand patron lui-même, Eric Côté, lors des épreuves d’endurances. Une 2e voiture pourrait être ajoutée si la possibilité se présente.

GT Racing participera aussi au championnat Canadien de voiture de tourisme et à la Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada.

GT Racing sera en piste ce weekend au 4 Heures Pole-Position avec: Marc-Antoine Camirand, JC Cote, Éric Cote et Shawn Grisanti

 

Montréal (Québec), le 7 février 2011.- L’édition 2011 des 4 Heures Pole-Position, événement annuel d’Endurance karting présenté par le magazine québécois de sport automobile Pole-Position, aura lieu les 11 et 12 février prochains, soit ce vendredi et samedi au complexe Kart-O-Mania de Montréal.

Cette classique a été créée en 2002 dans le but de regrouper une fois l'an, et en période hivernale où les activités de sport automobile sont plus réduites, dans une véritable compétition pilotes de circuit routier, stock-car, rallye, karting, drift, solo, rallycross, autocross et quelques pilotes amateurs chevronnés. Au fil du temps, le rendez-vous est devenu de plus en plus populaire, au point que ce sont désormais pas moins de cent (100) pilotes québécois qui seront au départ cette année encore.

Les 4 Heures Pole-Position sont à la fois une véritable compétition et un rendez-vous incontournable pour les passionnés québécois qui ont ainsi l’occasion d’approcher vedettes et amis dans le cadre d’une course où équité des machines et stratégie de course sont les maître-mots.

La version "nocturne" des 4 Heures Pole-Position 2011 (réservée prioritairement aux pilotes majoritairement non licenciés, de solo, autocross et rallye) a lieu vendredi soir, de 19 heures à 23 heures. La version "classique", où seront à l’oeuvre pilotes de circuit routier, stock-car/NASCAR, Rallye-Cross, karting, etc. sera disputée le lendemain, ce samedi 12 février, de midi à 16 heures. Les deux épreuves ont lieu au complexe Kart-O-Mania, situé au 5196 de la Savane (coin Décarie) à Montréal. L'accès au site et en bord de piste est gratuit pour tous les spectateurs.

Etienne Borgeat, Jacques Gravel and JC Cote were on hand to both take people on hair-raising rides around the track, as well as some of the mechanics who'd worked so hard all season getting a chance to get behind the wheel with one of the regular drivers by their side.

Eric Cote, team owner and crew chief wanted everyone involved in the 2010 season to have one final team experience before the winter break.

GT Racing is pleased to announce the partnership and use of KW Automotive suspensions for the 2011 Season. The GT Racing cars and drivers will benefit from KW’s extensive experience in Motorsports and the team will be sporting KW logos throughout the season.

Testing on the new custom fabricated suspensions will begin in early 2011.

 

KW racing suspensions are designed for professional motorsports. The systems are based on mono-tube damping construction with a separate adjustable compression reservoir canister. The 3-way has a very large working range of dampening adjustment and allows for nearly any adjustment possibility. An additional benefit is the freedom to mount the adjustable compression reservoir, allowing easier access for adjustments.

JC Cote’s first experience of Toronto’s lakeside race-circuit this weekend was at the seat of GT Racing's new Pontiac Solstice, freshly race-prepared for the fourth round of the 2010 Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship (CCTCC).

With time for a mere nine laps of practice on Friday, the race was on for Cote to not only familiarize himself with his new rear-wheel driven Solstice, but also to learn the challenging and notoriously unforgiving Toronto track. An ongoing computer management system problem for Cote, #3, and his team-mate Etienne Borgeat in the twin #2 car, had both drivers experiencing a loss of horsepower in fourth gear for most of the weekend.

“The tighter in-field section of the track wasn’t such a problem because for much of it you’re in third gear” said Cote after Saturday morning’s Qualifying, “but as soon as I was getting onto the straights and changed into fourth, the power would bottom out and I couldn’t accelerate with the other cars through the faster parts of the track”.

Race One therefore saw Cote starting from a disappointing 26th position in a field of 34 cars. A further problem with the brakes presented additional challenges during an eventful race:

“Around lap 10 I had a complete brake failure at the end of the back straight. I managed to stop the car using the gears and avoided the wall at the end of the run-off. I took a few laps really gently to allow the brakes to cool down, but once they came back I was able to set some good lap times.”

Notwithstanding the brake issues, the ongoing systems management glitch and an increasingly slippery track due to light rain, Cote finished 13th in class.

“It was an eventful first race but the most exciting thing is that the car shows some real pace. If we can get a couple of things fixed by tomorrow morning, I think we have a car capable of a top ten finish."

Cote felt positive going into Sunday morning’s second race. Consistently fast lap times saw him challenging frequently for position, resulting in his first top ten finish, coming across the line in 10th position with a fastest race lap of 1:25.049.

Après une saison fructueuse en 2009 au championnat national Castrol Canadian Touring Car avec 8 victoires 21 podiums et 7 poles position, GT Racing annoncé ses plans pour 2010. La saison prochaine sera construite sur de nouvelles bases. Premièrement, une importante restructuration a été apportée à l’équipe incluant un déménagement du circuit d’ICAR à Mirabel dans de nouveaux locaux à Ville St-Laurent.

Ensuite, malgré un mariage avec BMW qui remonte à la saison 2003, GT Racing ne défendra plus les couleurs du manufacturier Bavarois. L’équipe menée par le préparateur bien connu Eric Côté aura dans ses rangs trois Pontiac Solstice dans la division Super Touring.

“Les voitures seront munis de moteurs 2 litres turbo qui devraient développer 300 chevaux.” Nous a confirmé Côté, qui est également propriétaire de l’équipe. “ La série nous a impose des pièces à utiliser pour contrôler les performance de nos voitures, ce qui est tout à fait normal. On a vue dans le passé ce que les Subaru avaient comme performance et ce n’était pas bon pour la compétition. Notre but sera d’être des plus performants à des coûts bien moindre qu’avec les BMW de l’an passé. Je vise même un budget qui frôle le budget dont je disposais en 2005 pour faire le Touring Québécois. Ça va être un vrai défi!”

Au moment d’écrire ces lignes, 3 pilotes sont confirmés. Etienne Borgeat, 3e l’an dernier sera au volant de la Pontiac #2. Charles-André Bilodeau, champion 2007 et Jacques Gravel champion Touring québécois en 2004 se partageront le Volant de la #3. Le pilote de la Pontiac #4 sera connu ultérieurement.
